Photogallery (English)

This is the photographic gallery of the bid site: images chosen at the time by the committee to show the city, the areas earmarked for the exhibition and the public meetings of the campaign. The page has stayed what it was — an index of pictures — and we treat it as such: no caption has been added where there was none, and no photograph has been credited to an author the original site did not name.

What the gallery gives you is the committee’s point of view: which places it considered worth showing and in what order. What it does not give you is a photographic record of the city in those years, and it is not a picture library: the rights are not ours and we cannot grant them. Where an image is missing, the slot stays visible rather than being quietly removed. The written material is in the archive of the candidacy, the places themselves are described in Milan and its territory, and the sequence of events is in the chronicle.
